Baggies defender moves to Bramall Lane on loan

Sheffield United have completed the loan signing of West Brom defender Joe Mattock until the end of the season. As revealed by skysports.com, the Blades were leading the hunt for the England Under-21 international and have now secured his services. Bramall Lane boss Micky Adams was been keen to bolster his defence and believes Mattock will be an excellent addition to his squad. The former Leicester defender has found his first-team opportunities limited at the Hawthorns this term and has been allowed to leave on a temporary basis.

Enthusiastic

With Marek Cech and Nicky Shorey ahead of him in Roberto Di Matteo's thoughts, the Premier League club have enough cover, although there is a recall clause in the loan deal. Mattock will come into contention for Saturday's Championship clash at Coventry as the Blades look to climb away from relegation danger. Adams told the club's official website: "Joe is young and enthusiastic and certainly gives us competition for places. "He had an injury at the start of the season which limited his opportunities for West Brom, but he's naturally left-footed and having him here will help us climb the table."
