Higuain happy after back surgery; Kaka warns Benzema

Real Madrid striker Gonzalo Higuain has targeted a return to action before the end of the season. The Argentinan, who underwent lower back surgery in Chicago earlier this month was delighted with the outcome after which he said provided 'total relief for my mind and body'. However, the La Liga giants estimate the 23-year-old will be out of action for up to four months, but Higuain is remaining positive. He said: "Everything went very well, as we expected. "Yesterday I checked in with the doctor and everything is fine. "Almost all the pain has gone in my leg, which was preventing me from playing, and I am now already thinking only about returning to action as soon as possible. "I am completely confident I'll be able to come back before the season finishes."

Warning

Meanwhile, midfield star Kaka has warned Karim Benzema that he must do more to convince coach Jose Mourinho that he is the answer to the ongoing striker problems at the club. The French ace is currently out-of-favour with Mourinho and Kaka has urged him to show his true qualities. "Benzema is a great player. During training you can clearly see his qualities. He can be an important player for Real, it all depends on him," said Kaka. "Sometimes he stays a little out of the game and we believe that he can do a little more."
