Midfielder commits to Barca

Sergio Busquets has signed a contract extension at Barcelona which will keep him at the club until 2015. The 22-year-old put pen to paper on Thursday, ending any uncertainty surrounding his future at Camp Nou. Reports last week had suggested that a number of 'big clubs' were monitoring the midfielder's situation, but that interest must now be shelved. Busquets' new agreement contains an automatic extension for a further year should he figure in a set number of games in the 2014/15 campaign.

Buyout clause

It also includes a buy-out clause which has been increased from 80 to 150million euros [£129m]. Busquets will now prolong an association with Barcelona which stretches back to his days in the club's academy system. Since making the breakthrough into the senior fold in 2008/09 he has become an established member of Pep Guardiola's plans, making over 100 appearances. He has also become a regular for Spain and helped Vicente del Bosque's side to World Cup glory in 2010.
