Youngster targeting regular first team action

Everton midfielder Jack Rodwell believes that his team can be competitive even without any January recruits. The 19-year-old has seen very little in the way of players arriving at Goodison Park during the window, yet has watched the departure of Steven Pienaar to Tottenham. Despite admitting to not being happy about losing the South African, Rodwell believes there is enough quality within the squad to replace him. David Moyes is believed to be on the look-out for a new striker, especially given James Vaughan's loan departure to Crystal Palace. While Rodwell is concentrating on getting back into his manager's first-team plans, he believes more is to come from a player who has found life at Goodison hard so far - Diniyar Bilyaletdinov. "Obviously it was disappointing to lose Steven but we've got good players like Bilyaletdinov who can step in and play really well," Rodwell told the Liverpool Echo. "We've got a great squad generally as it is. The morale in the team is actually really good."
