Seasiders hope to sign Rangers striker

Sky Sports News understands that James Beattie is having a medical at Blackpool ahead of a proposed move from Rangers. Beattie only joined Rangers in the summer, signing a two-year deal with the option of a further 12 months after falling out of favour at Stoke. However, he has found first-team opportunities hard to come by at Ibrox and speculation has resurfaced over his future in recent weeks. A number of clubs have been linked with a January swoop for the former England striker and Blackpool now appear keen to strike a deal before Monday night's transfer deadline. The 32-year-old is believed to have linked up with the Seasiders and is being put through a series of physical tests. Beattie has a wealth of experience following lengthy spells with Southampton, Everton and Sheffield United earlier in his career, and will hope to show that he can still be successful in the Premier League if a switch can be finalised. Blackpool have enjoyed an impressive first season back in the English top flight and currently occupy a comfortable mid-table berth.
