Swansea boss likes his team's determination

Swansea boss Brendan Rodgers praised the mental toughness of his team after their late winner over Coventry. Substitute Stephen Dobie climbed off the bench to score the winner as the game looked like it was heading for a draw. The win puts Swansea second in table and on the coat tails on league leaders QPR. Rodgers said: "It was a tough game for us and we knew it would be. "We knew Coventry would be coming into this fresh and they have a style that meant we knew we would have to defend a lot of high balls.

Difficult

"We stood strong to that and we kept ourselves in the game for long enough that we could eventually take control of a difficult game and get a fantastic win. "We had to show steel and determination to get the result and those are the things you have to have if you are going to be a top team and be successful. "I think we have shown what we are all about and Ashley Williams has just said that we are now winning games that we maybe wouldn't have done before. "That's our eighth away win in the Championship and that's a very pleasing return."
Focus
Aidy Boothroyd's focus was on referee Keith Stroud's controversial decision not to award a penalty to the Sky Blues just after the restart when Dorus De Vries appeared to bring down Lukas Jutkiewicz in the box. "We gave a very good team a hiding for long periods and we made them look average. I don't say that lightly because I really respect Brendan and his team," the Coventry boss said. "But what cost was a mistake by one of our defenders and an unbelievable error from the man in the middle. We are all human, we all make mistakes but that was glaring. "It was a WWF move from their keeper. It's a penalty so give it. Their keeper took one of our players out and then dragged another one down. "I sound like I am making excuses but this is the worst I have felt for a long time because the players have really worked their socks off and done really well for long periods. "If we had scored a goal from the penalty it would have put a different complexion on the game and the momentum would have been with us. "There will be no sulking. We are professionals and we will lick our wounds and get over this - that's what we have to do. I think we are good side and the players can walk out of here with their heads held high."
