Rams need experienced cover after double injury blow
Derby are hoping to agree a new loan deal for Blackburn goalkeeper Frank Fielding.
The England Under-21 international spent two months at Pride Park earlier in the season, making 10 appearances for the Rams.
And manager Nigel Clough was chasing the 22-year-old even before Saul Deeney injured his shoulder in training on Monday.
With first-choice keeper Stephen Bywater then picking up a muscle problem during Tuesday night's 1-0 home defeat by Hull City, bringing in experienced cover between the sticks has become a top priority.
"We will continue to try to get Frank in," said Clough, who had to bring James Severn on for Bywater against Hull, giving the 19-year-old his senior debut.
Fielding, meanwhile, has racked up 103 league appearances in six loan stints from Blackburn, although he is yet to make a first-team appearance for the Premier League outfit.
Fielding played a key role in Derby's fine early-season form but Clough's side have slumped into the bottom half and are now hovering above the danger zone.
