Black Cats chief hails recovering striker

Sunderland boss Steve Bruce is shocked by Fraizer Campbell's speed of recovery from a cruciate knee injury. Campbell has been out of action since August after rupturing his cruciate knee ligament in the win against Manchester City. The 23-year-old is close to a comeback and is pushing for a run-out in the reserves. Bruce says Campbell is looking 'magnificent' as he closes in on a return to action with the clash against Liverpool on 20th March pencilled in for his first-team comeback. "Fraizer looks magnificent," Bruce told The Northern Echo. "I have never seen anybody recover from a knee injury as quickly, and when you look at the knee scar, the shape he is in and the condition he is in, it is absolutely fantastic. We expect him to play in a week."
