On-loan defender misses out on Sunday's final

Rangers will definitely be without on-loan defender Kyle Bartley for Sunday's Co-operative Insurance Cup final with Celtic. The 19-year-old Arsenal youngster suffered suspected medial ligament damage in Thursday night's defeat by PSV Eindhoven. Bartley will have a scan on his knee over the weekend but he faces several weeks on the sidelines if the initial diagnosis is confirmed. The knock means Bartley will not feature against the Bhoys on Sunday, although assistant manager Ally McCoist is quietly confident about Kyle Lafferty's fitness. The striker was stretchered out of the Ibrox tie on Thursday with a knee injury, but is not yet ruled out of the weekend showpiece event.

Out

"Kyle Bartley is definitely out for the weekend," explained McCoist. "It looks as though he has medial ligament damage. "He is being assessed at the moment with a view to scanning the injury in the next 48 hours. "Kyle Lafferty is a little better than we first feared. "He has taken a good whack on the knee but he has responded well this morning. He will still be a doubt but has a chance."
