Jewell hopes McAuley and Delaney accept contract offers

Ipswich Town have offered defensive duo Damien Delaney and Gareth McAuley new contracts at Portman Road. Delaney and McAuley are among a host of players at Ipswich whose current deals expire at the end of the season. However, the pair have been offered fresh terms and manager Paul Jewell is hoping the defenders will agree to stay. "I spoke to Damien and Gareth and I told them we would be putting an offer in writing," said Jewell. "Hopefully that will be accepted, and as soon as it is it will get signed." McAuley, meanwhile, is set to captain the Northern Ireland side against Slovenia in Tuesday's Euro 2012 qualifier at Windsor Park. Delaney could also be involved in international action after being called into the Republic of Ireland squad for the friendly at home to Uruguay.
