Guedioura also edging towards first-team recall

Stephen Hunt will step up his recovery from a calf injury with a run-out for Wolves' reserves on Monday. The winger has spent more than two months on the sidelines nursing his way back to match fitness. He picked up his latest knock during an FA Cup clash with Stoke at Molineux on 30th January. Wolves have fared admirably in his absence, but will welcome his return heading into a crucial stage of the season. With there still all to play for in the battle to beat the drop, it is imperative that those involved in the relegation scrap have their strongest possible squads available. With that in mind, Wolves manager Mick McCarthy is also delighted to see Adlene Guedioura edging closer to a first-team return.

No rush

He too will figure for the club's second string against Manchester City, as he steps up his recovery from a broken leg. Following six months out of action, the Algeria international was welcomed back into the fold for a reserve date with Blackpool last week. McCarthy admits Guedioura may have been ready to face Newcastle on Saturday, a game Wolves lost 4-1, but feels a cautious approach will be beneficial to all concerned. He said: "Adlene is doing remarkably well. If I had been struggling, I would have taken him at the weekend to Newcastle, but I had 20 players fit and raring to go. "He did really well in the reserves at Blackpool, has trained really well, and there is no need to rush him back. "He will be okay for the Everton game."
