A four-man FA panel began hearing evidence on Tuesday and were expected to deliver their verdict on Friday over seven charges relating to the Rs' registration of Argentine midfielder Alejandro Faurlin.
Neil Warnock's side clinched promotion to the Premier League on Saturday but the full celebrations remain on hold amid concerns that they could be docked points.
The verdict was due to be made public on Friday afternoon, but the FA have now announced that their decision will now be announced at the earliest possible opportunity 'thereafter'.
Doubt
A statement from the FA read: "It was originally indicated that the decision of the Independent Regulatory Commission hearing on the charges against QPR and Mr Gianni Paladini concerning Alejandro Faurlin and on any sanction, if appropriate, would be announced by 4pm on Friday 6 May if possible.
"This will not now happen.
"A decision will be made and announced as soon as possible thereafter."
The latest move from the FA throws the Championship promotion and play-off picture into further doubt with the final round of fixtures taking place on Saturday lunchtime.
Timing
The timing of the hearing has already been questioned by some rival clubs, but the promotion and play-off picture could now remain unclear even after the season is over.
The Football League will not be changing the scheduling of the play-offs regardless of whether Rangers are docked points and subsequently appeal against the decision.
If they do drop out of the automatic promotion places, Cardiff or Swansea would be promoted behind Norwich.
A statement from Rangers read: "Queens Park Rangers Football Club has acknowledged today's statement by the Football Association and will be making no further comment."
