Zamparini admits Juve striker's wages are too expensive

Palermo president Maurizio Zamparini says Amauri's wages are too expensive to bring the Juventus striker back to the club. Amauri originally left Palermo for Juve in 2008, but spent the second half of last season on loan at Parma. He has been linked with a permanent move away from Juve this summer, with the likes of Tottenham Hotspur, Lazio and Napoli mooted as admirers. A return to Palermo has also been floated, but Zamparini says that, unless the 31-year-old accepted a significant pay cut, there would be no summer reunion. "Amauri is one of the strongest forwards that we have in Italy," Zamparini told Gazzetta dello Sport. "But we cannot sign him because his wages are too much. "If he cut his salary to €1million (£894,000) per year, I would sign him immediately. "But he earns €4million (£3.6m) and Palermo cannot afford those figures." The Italy international, who has 12 months left on his Juve deal, scored an impressive seven goals in 11 games during his loan at Parma last term.
