Schalke fail with second bid for Brest forward

Schalke have seen a second bid for highly-rated Brest forward Nolan Roux knocked back. The French outfit snubbed an initial approach of €4million (£3.5m) and have now rejected another offer of €6.5million (£5.8m). Brest have made it clear that they are prepared to hold out for €8million (£7.1m) and will not be lowering that valuation. Club chairman Michel Guyot believes Schalke are delaying a deal on purpose, with it their intention to snap up the 23-year-old once he has completed a pre-season programme in France. He told L'Equipe: "It is not sale season at Brest. "I am not keen to sell Nolan Roux and we will only consider bids which match the valuation. There is no need for me to comment on an offer of €6million. "Schalke are taking their time with Nolan as they want him to prepare for the season here and then be ready for the start of their campaign."
