Anderlecht have reportedly slappped a £4million price tag on defender Roland Juhasz after rejecting Rangers' lastest bid.
Ally McCoist is desperate for defensive cover after learning Dorin Goian will not be available for their decisive UEFA Champions League qualifier against Malmo on Wednesday.
A hamstring injury to David Weir has created a gap at the heart of their defence, but Rangers failed to meet the deadline with Uefa for completing Goian's paperwork.
The Scottish champions had an initial offer for Hungarian Juhasz blocked last weekend before coming back with their latest offer, thought to be in the region of £2.5million.
Yet Anderlecht are holding firm and have stated the player will not be allowed to leave for below their valuation.
"We received a second bid from Rangers which is way below our valuation," a spokesman for the Belgian club said.
"It is not enough for an experienced player such as Roland. Last season we extended his contract. He is one of our experienced leaders."
