McCoist not giving up on pursuit of United striker

Rangers manager Ally McCoist will not give up in his quest to sign striker David Goodwillie from SPL rivals Dundee United. Goodwillie has been a long-term target for Gers, but the SPL champions have yet to meet United's £2million asking price for the 22-year-old. A move to England has been mooted for Goodwillie, with Blackburn Rovers rumoured to be favourites for his signature despite having an offer rejected earlier in the week. However, McCoist does not believe a move to Ewood Park for Goodwillie is a foregone conclusion and will continue pushing for a deal for the Scotland international. McCoist said: "I don't think he's a Blackburn player. He is a player we have made no secret about but he is still a Dundee United player and we have to show them a lot of respect. "What I would say is, if we had an opportunity to bring David Goodwillie to Rangers, then I would like to take that." Responding to reports that Rangers have submitted a fresh bid for Goodwillie, McCoist added: "I don't know if it's accurate in terms of a fresh bid going in but I know our people have been talking to their people."
