Experienced defender returns to his homeland

Jonathan Zebina has completed his move to Brest and has penned a two-year contract with the Ligue 1 new boys. The 33-year-old returns to his native France as a free agent after parting company with Brescia. He admits a move to his country was not his first choice this summer, but he is looking forward to the challenge nonetheless. Zebina is currently nursing a knock, which will keep him sidelined for around three weeks, but he is delighted to have joined an ambitious club looking to make their mark in the French top flight. "Two weeks ago I spoke to the sporting director for the first time and it was not an option," he said.

Desire

"I could not imagine it happening after 13 years in Italy. I wanted to discover something new, so not in France. "But I have a big desire to show what I am capable of in my own country. The ambition of Brest made the difference. "My fitness? It is a bit of a mystery as I have been working hard. "I am working on a special programme and I hope to be ready for the game against Lyon (20th August) or against Nice (27th August)."
