United full-back expects new keeper to come good

Patrice Evra is confident new Manchester United team-mate David De Gea will become a success at Old Trafford. Spanish goalkeeper De Gea joined United in the summer from Atletico Madrid and was signed to replace the retired Edwin van der Sar. However, he has endured a difficult start to his Red Devils career after making mistakes against Manchester City in the Community Shield and West Brom in the opening Premier League game of the season. The 20-year-old, though, has the backing of his manager Sir Alex Ferguson and also the support of the rest of the United squad. Evra, who also suffered during the early stages of his Premier League career after arriving from Monaco in 2006, expects De Gea to eventually prove the sceptics wrong. "I had the same thing when I joined Man Utd," Evra told Sky Sports News. "This is the way, when you play for Manchester United to accept criticism. "I'm sure, I'm confident, everyone is behind him, he's a very talented player and I know he is going to make it."
