Defender supports Spurs team-mate

Benoit Assou-Ekotto insists the morale at Tottenham has not been affected by the ongoing transfer speculation surrounding Luka Modric. Modric's future at White Hart Lane has been the subject of constant conjecture all summer with Chelsea having seen two offers rejected for the Croatian international. The midfielder has declared an interest in moving to Stamford Bridge and Spurs team-mate Assou-Ekotto claims Modric's desire to leave has caused no problem in the dressing room. "The mood in the camp is good and there is no problem with Luka," Assou-Ekotto told skysports.com at an event promoting EA SPORTS FIFA 12. "We can all understand that Luka would be interested in a move to Chelsea as they are in the Champions League and we are not. "We hope Luka stays as he is such a big player and we need him if we want to get back into the Champions League, but if he leaves we would all wish him well. "It would be a major boost if Luka stayed and he says he is happy to stay if the move does not happen "He has been back in training and he has not caused any trouble because he is a very good professional Benoit Assou-Ekotto appears in EA SPORTS FIFA 12, out on Friday 30th September.
