Leicester City misfit Martyn Waghorn is delighted to have the chance of playing more regular football after rejoining former boss Nigel Pearson at Hull City.
The 21-year-old striker has fallen down the pecking order at the Foxes following the arrival of Sven-Goran Eriksson just under a year ago.
After switching to the KC Stadium on transfer deadline day until January, he is now looking forward to playing more regularly for Pearson, who initially took him to Leicester on loan two years ago.
Waghorn told the
Leicester Mercury: "It was a massive opportunity for me when I signed for Leicester last summer, to play games regularly for a big club, but when a new manager comes in, your face just doesn't fit sometimes.
"We'll just see how the loan goes. I'm concentrating on playing football, scoring goals and being happy again.
"It's not that I've not been happy at Leicester, but not playing games can be difficult.
"I'm 21 and starting out my career, and I want to play as much as I possibly can. There's nothing better than being out there playing football and scoring goals, so this is an ideal opportunity for me."
Pipeline
Regarding the switch to the Tigers, he added: "It's been in the pipeline for quite a while.
"There's been talk of it and, when Hull came in for me, there were no second thoughts.
"I played with the boss before at Leicester. He knows what I can do and I know what he can do for me.
"I heard there was a bit of interest from other clubs but I've been with the manager and the coaching staff before, so it was an easy decision.
"I needed to get my feet back on the ground and play football again, and that's exactly what I think I can get at Hull."
