Striker's contract does not contain 'single-sided' option

Werder Bremen have denied Claudio Pizarro's contract contains the option for the striker to extend his terms even if the club do not agree. The 32-year-old former Chelsea misfit's current deal expires at the end of the season and his future remains unclear. It has been reported Pizarro could renew his contract without Bremen's agreement, but club general manager Klaus Allofs insists this is not the case. Allofs told BILD: "We never have put up single-sided options in contracts. This is a basic fact. "Both parties will decide if something changes. It isn't that simple with regard to Claudio. "For him the circumstance of playing in a European club competition is a main factor. Still, if we decide to go on with Claudio, then we'll find a good solution."
