Leicester defender told to show his worth

Sean St Ledger has been challenged to show he deserves more first-team opportunities after Leicester manager Sven Goran Eriksson dismissed talk of a loan move. Republic of Ireland international St Ledger has been frustrated by a lack of action since his summer arrival from Preston, playing just three times so far this season. The 26-year-old recently suggested he may have to go out on loan to get regular football and protect his place in the national side. However, he looks set to get a chance to impress with Foxes captain Matt Mills set to serve a three-match suspension following his red card in the defeat at Birmingham on Sunday. "It is up to St Ledger now," said Eriksson. "We can't allow him out on loan. "If we could call him back within 24 hours, then okay. But you can't do that for the first month so it is out of the question, and I don't think now he wants to go out on loan. "He has been very good for Ireland and is a good centre-half, so we are covered."
