Rugby Park boss hoping to retain on-loan ace

Kilmarnock manager Kenny Shiels is hoping to extend the loan of his son Dean from Doncaster Rovers. The playmaker returned to the SPL this summer after joining the Rugby Park outfit on loan until the New Year. Dean has made a big impact after scoring three times in 10 appearances, including the opener in Saturday's 3-3 draw with Celtic. Killie's boss has now confirmed he plans to talk with Doncaster in a bid to keep his son at the club for a longer period.

Extension

"We're trying to extend Dean's loan," explained Shiels. "We're trying to see if we can do that. "We'll sit down and talk with Dean and Doncaster. I've not had talks with Doncaster yet, but I plan to. "I want to extend it and hopefully we can do. Dean is a top player and he helps the team a lot. "He has done well since he came but we didn't expect anything less than that as he's a creative midfielder. "That's the type of player we need for the way we play so hopefully we can keep him here."
