Posh striker accepts three-match ban for challenge on Keogh
Peterborough United striker Lee Tomlin has apologised for his red card against Leeds United and will accept his three-match suspension.
Tomlin was dismissed during the first half of Peterborough's 3-2 home defeat by Leeds on Saturday following a challenge on Andy Keogh.
The 22-year-old says he committed the offence through annoyance at referee Keith Stroud delaying George Boyd's return to the pitch.
Boyd had been ordered off to change a blood-stained sock and stood on the touchline waiting for permission to come back on when Tomlin hacked down Keogh.
"I apologised to my team-mates following the final whistle on Saturday and I would like to take this opportunity to apologise to the supporters, management and board for the tackle that led to my dismissal," Tomlin said via a statement on the club's
official website.
"The supporters have been first class since I arrived at the club and were fantastic on Saturday.
"I will work hard in training while I am unavailable for selection and do everything I can to try and get back into the starting line-up when I am free from suspension."
Tomlin can expect a three-match ban from the Football Association, meaning he will miss the Championship matches at Watford and Southampton as well as the home game against Derby.
