Bhoys defender says team-mates are behind their manager

Celtic defender Charlie Mulgrew insists the squad are fully behind under-pressure manager Neil Lennon. The Bhoys have made an inconsistent start to the new SPL campaign, but they did claim a 2-1 success over Aberdeen on Sunday. The success kept Celtic 10 points behind leaders Rangers in the table, although Lennon's side do have a game in hand. The pressure is firmly on Lennon to secure wins consistently and Mulgrew says the players fully support their manager. The 25-year-old is of the firm belief that Lennon has the qualities needed to succeed and hopes he remains at the helm for the long term.

Faith

"The manager has shown faith in a lot of boys here and everybody wants to win the title for him," said Mulgrew. "We are all right behind him and working to repay his faith. "We feel we owe him so everybody is concentrating on doing the club and the manager a turn. "I keep saying we need to go on a run and hopefully this can be the start. There have been a few positives in the last week and we need to push on from here.
Result
"I wasn't thinking that we hadn't won in our last four games. I just knew we needed a result to start a run. "Obviously you want a performance to go with it but the main thing is that we won. "This is his first managerial job and he has definitely shown he has the qualities needed. "It would be great if he was here for the long term."
