Megson not worried about losing leading scorer in January

Gary Madine insists he is 'very happy' at Sheffield Wednesday as manager Gary Megson focuses on trying to sign players of a similar calibre. In-form striker Madine has scored 11 goals in League One this season, although he was sent off against his former club Carlisle United on Tuesday evening. His impressive form for the Owls this term has seen scouts from bigger clubs flocking to Hillsborough to check on the 21-year-old. Madine is on a long-term contract with the South Yorkshire club and says his priority is trying to help the Owls secure a return to the Championship.

Very happy

"I'm very happy," said Madine in the Sheffield Star. "I'm loving the area and everything to do with the club. Long may it continue. "I've got to take each step as it comes. If I can keeping scoring, hopefully it will get us out of this league. That makes me a Championship player, then if I can do the same again, who knows?" Owls boss Megson added: "If we are to go forward we have to act like a bigger club than we are status wise, and we do. Gary's contract runs for quite a while. "He seems to be happy and he's doing very well. We've got no worries about that. We need to be signing that kind of player."
