Skysports.com understands that Bristol City boss Derek McInnes is ready return to Scotland for at least a couple of January signings.
It is understood both Hearts' Ryan Stevenson and Dougie Imrie of Hamilton are on McInnes' radar.
City are ready to back their new manager, and McInnes knows where he can get value for money north of the border.
With that he now has his sights on a number of targets, including Stevenson and Imrie.
Stevenson, 27, joined Hearts last year - but the Edinburgh outfit have already told their higher earners they can leave, which could see City make their move.
Imrie has dropped into the Scottish Division One with Hamilton, but McInnes feels he could have something to offer in England and could offer him the chance of a move to Ashton Gate.
