Cardiff defender Ben Turner admits he would be willing to consider switching his international allegiance to Wales, with a call-up in 2012 mooted.
The Birmingham-born 23-year-old was approached by Wales back in 2009 when he would have been eligible to turn out for their U21 side.
He had already represented England's U19s, but was willing to listen to what Brian Flynn had to say.
The issue has not been taken any further since that initial contact, but reports suggest Gary Speed is considering handing the Bluebirds defender a senior call-up.
He could be selected as early as February, when Wales are due to take in a friendly date, with a spokesman for the Football Association of Wales confirming that the issue is to be explored.
Turner would welcome a call if one arrives, with the powerful centre-half excited by the prospect of representing the land of his grandparents.
Roots
"I was asked if I would consider it and I said I would," he told
Wales Online.
"I don't really have a clue how he (Flynn) knew about my Welsh roots.
"I do have two full Welsh grandparents - a grandad on one side and a nan on the other. I am eligible.
"I am not sure where exactly my grandparents come from in Wales.
"Up to now I have always considered myself as an Englishman.
"I played for England U19s but you don't actually have to commit yourself if you have got a split nationality until you reach U21s level."
