Defender learning every day from Argentine team-mate

Steven Taylor has declared that he loves playing alongside captain and defensive partner Fabricio Coloccini at Newcastle United. The Magpies have conceded just 11 goals in 12 league games this season, a tally which has been rivalled by only Manchester City and Liverpool. Coloccini and Taylor will play against Manchester United on Saturday before facing Chelsea the following weekend and the 25-year-old believes he is learning from Coloccini every day in training. "I feel I'm playing well, and I've just got to continue that," Taylor told The Shields Gazette. "I'm playing alongside a very good centre-half in Coloccini. He's in his prime, and is a great leader. "Day in, day out, I'm enjoying training and playing alongside him. I'm taking the advice he's giving me, which is very important. I love learning from someone who's played at the highest level for Argentina. "For me, I'm just enjoying playing my football. It's an honour to play with the lads we've got now. It's a fantastic spirit we've got here." Taylor, 25, believes the closeness between the Newcastle players is what is making them successful and he will be hoping to beat the Red Devils at Old Trafford this weekend where the Toon have not won since 1972. "We've had our good times, and we've had our bad times," Taylor added. "Now they're good times. I think this club's moving forward. "We've got a tight-knit group of players who want to do well and play for each other. That's showing on the pitch, and in and around the dressing room and on the training pitch. "The atmosphere's fantastic, and we're just enjoying playing. We've stuck to the basics, and done very well. That's all we've done. "What helps is that you're playing with the same players week in, week out. We know what we're good at, and what we're not so good at."
