Frenchman undergoes surgery in United States
Newcastle midfielder Sylvain Marveaux is facing four months on the sidelines after undergoing successful surgery on a groin problem in America.
The Frenchman, a summer arrival at St James' Park from Rennes, picked up the injury against Everton on November 5th and has not featured since.
Marveaux is now facing a lengthy recovery after going under the knife at the Steadman Clinic in Colorado.
Manager Alan Pardew said: "Marveaux had a successful operation in America, so we are really pleased about that.
"We think that's going to be three to four months, perhaps four months, but it was a very successful operation."
Marveaux has made nine appearances since his summer move to the Premier League to help the Toon to fourth in the table.
