Ivory Coast striker targets glory in the African Nations Cup

Arsenal striker Gervinho has declared he wants to win the three remaining competitions they are still involved in. The Gunners were knocked out of the Carling Cup in midweek by Manchester City but are still in the running for the Premier League title, UEFA Champions League and FA Cup. Gervinho won the French title with Lille last season and wants to continue in that vein with Arsene Wenger's men. "We're going to try and win everything," he told The Guardian.

Trophy

"All of England expects Arsenal to win something and so do the fans. The league, the Champions League and the FA Cup..... we can do it all. "Everything is possible. The most important thing is to win a trophy or two by the end of the season and that's what I want. "I really got a taste for winning titles at Lille."
Tournament
Arsenal's hopes of winning titles this term will be dented by the absence of the Ivory Coast striker, who will be away for up to three weeks at the African Nations Cup in January. And Gervinho admits the similarities between his club and country are striking. Both are blessed with talented players, yet both have experienced prolonged trophy droughts. "Ivory Coast is like Arsenal," Gervinho concludes. "We have not won a tournament since 1992 so that's a number of years. We've got good players and it's very similar to the situation at Arsenal. "Every time we approach a tournament, we say we are going to win and then we miss out."
