Yohan Cabaye is confident Newcastle can respond positively to a dip in results and get their European push back on track.
The Magpies have taken just one point from their last three games to slip to sixth in the Premier League standings.
Those fixtures have been against Manchester City, Manchester United and Chelsea, with few giving Alan Pardew's side much chance of safely negotiating that run.
The fact that they opened the season with an 11-match unbeaten run still has them in good shape and, with the busy festive period approaching, they will have ample opportunity to push back towards the top four.
Cabaye is confident Newcastle can keep themselves in the hunt for European qualification this term, with their December fixture list offering cause for optimism.
"There have been two or three tough games and we have been able to see what we can do," said the Frenchman.
"Every game we go into to win, and now we have to do that again to help the team climb the league.
Spirit
"There are a lot of games coming up now which we can win. The team spirit is still good here and by staying near the top five or six means it stays good.
"This team here has integrated very quickly, but there is a long way to go and we can only improve and grow together from this spell."
Cabaye was among those drafted in by Pardew over the summer to aid Newcastle's cause and the highly-rated midfielder believes all of the Magpies' new recruits have settled quickly at St James' Park.
He added: "That we settled in so quickly was good for myself, Demba Ba, Gabby Obertan, Hatem Ben Arfa and Mehdi (Abeid), not forgetting Sylvain Marveaux.
"It has been good for us, but we came here because we wanted to do well for Newcastle and help the club move forwards. It is important we stay near the top of the Premier League.
"Now I am playing in English grounds, which give such a buzz, each week, I am delighted."
