Gers midfielder plagued by groin injury

Rangers manager Ally McCoist has confirmed that Jamie Ness has seen another specialist in a bid to overcome his long-term groin injury. The 20-year-old midfielder broke into the first-team at Ibrox last season and was rewarded by the club with a two-year contract. However, injury has since prevented Ness from making a further impact and McCoist admits he is still some way off full fitness. "We sent Jamie down to see a specialist in London," the Gers boss told the Daily Record.

"They carried out a few tests and we're probably going to pursue another avenue in terms of fitness for Jamie. "I'd fully expect him to continue his training in the gym and with the physios but I wouldn't expect him to join in with the rest of the lads now until around Christmas time. "Jamie's had a tough time of it. It's been really disappointing for Jamie himself and for everyone at the club." Ness made his first-team debut at Motherwell in December 2010 and scored his first goal in a Scottish Cup clash with Celtic.
