Mitchell Nelson has left Bournemouth, with his contract having been terminated by mutual consent.
The 22-year-old defender recently took in a loan spell at Lincoln City and is believed to be heading back to the non-league with Eastleigh.
He was snapped up by Bournemouth in 2010, with Eddie Howe having spotted his potential.
Nelson struggled to make his mark with the Cherries, though, and leaves without making a first team appearance.
He is, however, looking to the future and believes the decision to part ways with Bournemouth will be beneficial to all concerned.
Nelson told the Cherries'
official website: "I'm looking at the positives now, I can move on and sign for a new club.
Experience
"I'm looking forward to playing some games and moving on with my career.
"It's been a tough few years but it has been a good experience. I've come from non-league and it was a big step, but I can take this experience and use it in the future.
"I've made a lot of good friends here and I will miss the lads, but I will stay in contact and wish them all the best.
"The squad here has a lot of quality and depth now, I believe Lee (Bradbury) and his staff will do well in the future.
"I think, if not this season then next, they will start to climb the leagues.
