Defender delighted with clean sheet in win at Loftus Road

Jonny Evans hailed Manchester United's team effort after the Red Devils kept a clean sheet in the win over QPR. Sir Alex Ferguson's side briefly went to the top of the table on Sunday after goals from Wayne Rooney and Michael Carrick in either half sealed the points at Loftus Road. Evans - who has been criticised by some for his defensive displays this season - was delighted to keep the home side at bay and he hailed United's hard work. The Northern Ireland international told MUTV: "A clean sheet is all you can ask for as a defender. It doesn't matter how you play, if you get a clean sheet you're happy. It was a nice to get it - it was a solid performance from us.

Working hard

"It really helps when the team is working really hard around you as well. The front players and the wide men work hard to make things a lot easier for you. "We created a lot of chances and felt we were a bit unfortunate not to go in (at half-time) with a couple more goals but we weren't able to kill them off in the first half. "That's the way these games go sometimes and you've always got to be on your guard. They had a good chance in the second half (through DJ Campbell), but thankfully they couldn't take it. "We'd like to have scored a few more goals - that's something we haven't been doing lately. But we've just got to make sure we keep creating the chances."
Opportunities
At the other end, Evans had a number of opportunities to score and hit the crossbar with a header as his search for an elusive first-ever goal for the Red Devils continues. He added: "Nani put in some good deliveries from our corners and I found it quite easy to lose my marker. It's just unfortunate one didn't go in for me. "I must have had about three or four chances - hopefully a goal will come soon."
