Allen keen to fend off interest in keeper

Skysports.com understands Notts County are ready to offer goalkeeper Stuart Nelson a new deal to ward off interest from other clubs. Nelson's current contract expires at the end of the season and a number of clubs are thought to be monitoring his situation at Meadow Lane. The Norwich keeper joined County from Aberdeen in the summer of 2010 and has fended off the challenge of Rob Burch to establish himself as No.1 in the Magpies side. Nelson has been an ever-present for County this season and his performances have not gone unnoticed among rivals clubs. Magpies boss Martin Allen is determined to keep Nelson and is keen to sit down and hold talks with the 30-year-old about a contract extension as soon as possible.
