West Brom star delighted with hard-fought clean sheet against leaders

Jonas Olsson hailed a team defensive effort after West Brom became the first Premier League side to stop leaders Manchester City scoring this season. Centre-half Olsson led the Baggies rearguard throughout Boxing Day's goalless draw at The Hawthorns and produced a superb block to deny David Silva in the closing stages. But the Swedish international insisted the whole side deserve the plaudits - not just the back four. Roy Hodgson's men kept their first clean sheet in 10 top-flight matches and it came against a rampant City side, who had scored 53 goals in their previous 17 games.

Deserved

"We're very pleased with a point and with our performance," Olsson told West Brom's official website. "I think we deserved a point - especially on the back of our second half. "It was a great point against a very good team. It's a challenge being up against the world-class strikers they have in the team and on the bench. "We knew it was going to be hard but fair play to Ben [Foster] as well. And as a team I think we defended as a unit from Peter [Odemwingie] and Shane [Long] up front to the back. "It was a very good clean sheet."
