Chilean opted to head for Serie A rather than Stamford Bridge

Eduardo Vargas has expressed his delight at linking up with Napoli and claims he snubbed advances from Chelsea before moving to Italy. The Chile international had been on the radar of several top European teams, with it expected to be only a matter of time before he left his homeland. He has now made a move, with Napoli winning the race for his signature. The highly-rated 22-year-old believes he made the right decision in heading for Serie A, with a switch to Stamford Bridge a possibility at one stage. "There were many clubs that wanted me, including Chelsea," said Vargas.

Important

"But I decided to come to Napoli because they are the side that made the most effort to get me in January. "Naples is a beautiful city and the team is strong. "I'm happy to be here as this is the most important stage of my career." Chelsea will get a chance to see what they missed out in February when Napoli face the Blues in the last 16 of the UEFA Champions League.
