Coventry City have signed Hermann Hreidarsson from Portsmouth on a short-term deal until the end of the season.

Thorn delighted to bring in Icelander

Coventry City have signed veteran defender Hermann Hreidarsson from Portsmouth on a short-term deal until the end of the season. Portsmouth have allowed Hreidarsson to leave on a free transfer as his contract was due to expire in the summer. The 37-year-old had fallen down the pecking order in Michael Appleton's plans and Sky Blues boss Andy Thorn has moved to bring in the Icelander. "I am delighted we have been able to get this deal done,"Thorn told the club's official website. "Hermann has a great track record and is just the sort of player we need to bring experience to the squad. "We've got a fight on our hands between now and the end of the season and he's exactly the type of player you want on your side."
