Sky Sports sources understand Birmingham have rejected an improved offer from West Brom for defender Liam Ridgewell.
The versatile Ridgewell was the subject of interest from Roy Hodgson's side last week and the Premier League club have now increased the bid in an attempt to get their man.
The 27-year-old had a transfer request rejected by the Championship club in the summer but could be set for a return to the top flight before the transfer window closes next week.
Ridgewell had previously been linked with moves to Everton, Queens Park Rangers and Newcastle United following Birmingham's relegation last season.
