Striker happy with goal boost

Didier Drogba was pleased to be up and running as the Ivory Coast made a winning start to their African Cup of Nations campaign on Sunday. The Chelsea striker scored the only goal of the game as the Elephants laboured to victory over Sudan. But the powerful frontman is adamant the result was the most important thing for his side as they attempt to cope with the pressure of being tournament favourites. "We needed to win the first game," said Drogba. "We had to start with a win." Drogba also admitted getting off the mark in the tournament provided a personal lift too. "I do not want to focus on the goal but scoring for a striker is important - it gives you a boost," added the 33-year-old striker. "We are looking forward to the next game against Burkina Faso." That game takes place on Thursday in Malabo.
