Baggies boss admits former club Fulham don't want to sell defender

West Bromwich Albion manager Roy Hodgson has confirmed an interest in Chris Baird, but says Fulham do not want to sell the defender. Sky Sports revealed earlier in the week that West Brom, and Premier League rivals Blackburn Rovers, had been chasing Baird. The Northern Ireland international has struggled to establish himself as a regular in Fulham's starting line-up this season and had been linked with a January move. Hodgson worked with the 29-year-old during his time at Craven Cottage and had considered a reunion with the former Southampton youngster. However, Hodgson admits he will not be signing Baird before the close of the transfer window after learning Fulham do not want to sell. "His name has been mentioned and I said if he was going to be released we would be interested," said Hodgson. "Then I've been informed Fulham are not releasing him, so he's not available."
