Black Cats midfielder looking to force his way back into side

Sunderland midfielder Jack Colback is aiming to reclaim his place in the side for Wednesday's Premier League clash against Norwich. The 22-year-old made his return to action from the bench on Sunday as the Black Cats were held to a 1-1 draw with Middleborough. Having missed the Premier League ties with Chelsea and Swansea through injury the academy product hopes to get back in the side and return to top-flight action. Colback, who has 31 Premier League appearances to his name so far, knows that his side cannot expect any easy rides especially with injuries to the squad. "Every game is tough and we're looking to push on and get back to winning ways after the draw last weekend," he told SAFC TV.

Injuries

"Unfortunately we seem to have picked up injuries all at once, and if I get the call to play I'm ready. I hope I do. "It was a worry for me getting injured when I was playing well as the team played well without me." However, an injury to David Vaughan could pave the way for the midfielder to return for the match at the Stadium of Light and Colback aims to take advantage should he be awarded the starting position. "There is a space there now and I hope the manager picks me and I can continue doing well again," he added. "There's a good element of competition, which makes players play better. We know we have to play well otherwise we're out of the team."
