Exciting place to be, says New Zealander

Ryan Nelsen is thrilled to have joined Tottenham but knows getting a game will be tough after labelling his centre-back rivals "world-class". The 34-year-old defender has arrived on a free transfer from Blackburn and is full of praise for his new team-mates. "Looking from afar, it's such an exciting place to be at the moment," Nelsen told the club's official website. "When I was at Blackburn and looking at the squads, I always thought Tottenham had an amazing squad. "It's a bit weird, considering I've been trying to kick them for the last eight seasons, but it will be great to play alongside them."

Challenge

Nelsen admits he faces a challenge to make an impact given the number of quality players in his position already at the club. Harry Redknapp is able to call upon Ledley King, Michael Dawson, Younes Kaboul and William Gallas - and Nelsen is under no illusions. "They are all world-class players," added Nelsen. "I know my role and why Harry's brought me in so if I can help out and contribute in any way that will be fantastic. "All I know is that I'm delighted to be here and I will work my socks off. I'll give everything for this club."
