Black Cats boss salutes in-form playmaker

Stephane Sessegnon has made quite an impression on Martin O'Neill, with the Sunderland boss full of praise for the talented forward. The Benin international was taken to the Stadium of Light by former Black Cats manager Steve Bruce, with a switch from Paris St Germain completed in January 2011. It initially took him time to settle in English football, with Sunderland's troubles on the field making it difficult for him to catch the eye. He has, however, enjoyed a new lease of life under O'Neill and has been among the Black Cats' most consistent performers in recent weeks. O'Neill is delighted to see the 27-year-old fulfilling his potential, as players with his ability are few and far between.

Brilliant

"Sess has been brilliant and made a tremendous impact," he said. "It's not about trying to fit him in. He's got great ability so it's easy to pick him. "There are so many aspects to his game. Not everything happens for him and sometimes he'll overdo it. But he always sees the bigger picture and gives us something different. "In midweek,he nutmegged a Norwich player from five yards in the build-up to our second goal."
