Everton ace backs former boss to replace Capello

Sylvain Distin has backed Harry Redknapp as the right man to succeed Fabio Capello as the new England manager. Tottenham chief Redknapp has been installed as favourite to replace Capello at the helm following the Italian's dramatic resignation on Wednesday. Redknapp has played down the clamour calling for him to take the England job, insisting his focus remains on Tottenham. But Everton defender Distin, who played under Redknapp at Portsmouth, is a big fan of the 64-year-old and he believes Redknapp's man-management style makes him the best person to take charge of England. "I don't think there are many people around who will come and take this job and succeed, but the quality Harry has he will do a good job there," Distin told Sky Sports News. "I think his main quality is his man-management. He knows how to speak to the players, how to get the best out of them, how to make you feel positive and confident. For me, I think that is his main asset. "When you are manager of a national team, I won't say it's not about football, but you have got experienced players and you don't have much to teach them. "All you have to do is make sure they get on well together and play well together. "You pick the best players of the Premier League and everywhere in England and I think he [Redknapp] has all the qualities for this job."
