Experienced Bayern striker out of contract this summer

Wolfsburg have emerged as favourites in the race to sign Bayern Munich striker Ivica Olic this summer, but Felix Magath is not looking too far ahead The Croatia international is out of contract in six months and is unlikely to renew terms at the Bundesliga giants, having fallen out of favour under first-team coach Jupp Heynckes. Olic, 32, grabbed the equalising goal in Bayern's 1-1 draw with Hamburg last week and afterwards claimed to have fully recovered from concerns over his fitness and form. "I am in top shape, so the coach cannot say to me anymore that I am not fit enough," said Olic, who featured in just six games for Bayern last season following a cruciate ligament injury.

Interest

Should he continue to warm the bench, Olic is likely to become a free agent, but Wolfsburg may face competition from Dortmund, according to German newspaper Allgemeine Zeitung. However, when questioned on his pursuit of Olic, Wolfsburg manager Magath dismissed the speculation, claiming to be fully focused on the immediate future. "The new campaign is long off," said Magath. "Why should I be able to make any prediction with regard to the new season at this point in time? "I am utmost focused on helping the club to have good results right now. Nothing else is what I am trying to ensure."
