Winger says Basel were underestimated by Red Devils

Basel winger Xherdan Shaqiri has accused Manchester United of lacking focus after crashing out of the UEFA Champions League at the group stage. Swiss side Basel progressed to the last 16 of Europe's premier competition at United's expense after beating Sir Alex Ferguson's men 2-1 before Christmas. They have since taken a step towards the quarter-finals thanks to a 1-0 home victory over Bayern Munich in the first leg of their knockout tie, while Manchester United are involved in Europa League action. Shaqiri has now given his opinion on the Red Devils by saying he felt their attitude was poor during the decisive group defeat in Switzerland. "United underestimated us. You could feel it in the tunnel and even in the warm-up," the 20-year-old, who will join Bayern in the summer, said. "They weren't fully focused and I'm not sure a United player made one sprint. "Afterwards, you couldn't even swap shirts - they were gone that quickly."
