Striker happy at West Brom following Hodgson talks

Peter Odemwingie has insisted he is happy at West Brom after holding talks with manager Roy Hodgson earlier in the season to resolve a public disagreement. The Baggies kept hold of Odemwingie last summer after he had been linked with a move elsewhere, but a slow start to the campaign led Hodgson to raise some concerns about the striker. The manager stated that he had 'got nothing' out of Odemwingie since signing a new deal before the start of the season, while he also seemed to question the Nigerian's willingness to play when not fully fit after a comeback from a knee injury was repeatedly delayed. Odemwingie has since returned to top form, netting a hat-trick in the Black Country derby win over Wolves and a brace in Saturday's 4-0 victory against Sunderland. He says his relationship with Hodgson is now as good as ever, although he admits they did have to meet to sort out a couple of issues.

Opposite

"I had a few thoughts that something was wrong and I wanted to know his plans and if there was any doubt about my commitment to the club," Odemwingie said in The Independent. "He said he was '100 per cent' that he wanted to work with me and that I shouldn't take his frustration and anger [as being aimed] towards me. He said he always wanted me to play for his team. "For me [not wanting to play] had nothing to do with it. I am the total opposite of a player who doesn't want to play through pain. "We needed to clear the air but it was cleared and I'm very happy here."
