Steve Morison believes Norwich City team-mate Grant Holt is capable of playing for England and can force his way into the Euro 2012 squad.

Striker feels team-mate can do a job at international level

Steve Morison believes Norwich City team-mate Grant Holt is capable of playing for England and feels the striker can force his way into the Euro 2012 squad. Holt is the joint second-highest scoring English forward in the Premier League this season behind Wayne Rooney, who will miss the opening two games of the European Championship through suspension. With Darren Bent likely to sit out the tournament through injury, whoever is appointed England coach will have mostly inexperienced options to select from. Holt has scored 10 goals in the top flight this season following Norwich's promotion and Wales international Morison feels his strike partner deserves a chance with England.

Handful

"I remember a couple of seasons back Kevin Davies getting a call-up late on to the squad and there is no reason why Grant can't do that," said Morison. "In that kind of mould he is the best player in the Premier League at the moment in that position. "If they're looking for someone to be a bit of a handful and be a different option to what they have got, then why not?" Morison added: "He has had a fantastic season and I have thoroughly enjoyed playing with him. "Grant's scored against Liverpool, Manchester United, Everton and Chelsea. "Everyone deserves a chance and he is knocking on the door with his performances, that is all you can do."
